BJ for short

at 5 months 3 weeks

we welcomed BJ into the world

with a weak voice but a strong soul

the audience heard him loud and clear

although fragile BJ was here to stay

a size 10 adult shoe

BJ could fit in nicely

1 pound 4.5 ounzes he weighed

BJ's body very transparent and cheezy

under saran wrap and light in the nicu

incubator warm as the womb

BJ was kept to brown

he went home after 4 months 

still to weak to suck

a feeding tube in his stomach

with major defenses against his mouth

BJ never learned how to chew 

he is no friend to candy or junk food

but a friend to pureed food thank God

anxious with any change in routine

loves the computer and tv

a joy to be around

today BJ is a healthy 14 year old

autism could not resist him

but BJ is medically healthy.
